Luxury Golf Vacations in Mallorca, Spain
September 20, 2018 | Blog
The island of Mallorca offers some of the most beautiful golf courses anywhere, and with a guest room or suite at one of our Hoposa hotels or vacation apartments, you’re unbeatably positioned to enjoy them. If you’re a golfer—whatever your skill level—come experience these amazing Mediterranean greens and fairways and treat yourself to exquisite Hoposa hospitality while you’re at it!
Here’s a casual overview of some of the standout golf courses on the island: not exhaustive by any means, but enough of a representative sample to give you a taste for the quality and experience!
This 9-hole course serves up some stunning views of the Pollensa and Alcudia bays as well as the craggy heights of the Serra de Tramuntana. The course itself comes beautifully patterned with groves and lakes.
Golf Son Vida
The oldest golf course in Mallorca, Son Vida opened in 1964 with the help of Prince Rainier of Monaco. Its 18-hole layout remains a popular destination for local and visiting golfers and has hosted the Balearic Open more than once.
Golf Son Gual
The 18-hole Son Gual course has ranked multiple times among Golf World’s Top 100 Golf Courses in Europe, and it’s not hard to see why, what with the challenging format and design features that include waterfalls and hundreds of olive trees. Designed by three-time amateur champion Thomas Himmel and celebrated by such ace golfers as Mark James, Ian Woosnam, and Sam Torrance, Son Gual has hosted a wide variety of tournaments, including the European Senior Open.
Golf de Andratx
Golf de Andratx offers a notably tough 18-hole course in southwestern Mallorca that’s drawn quite a few celebrities over the years. Among its superlatives is the longest hole in all of Spain: Hole 6. It’s a gorgeous place to play, what with the classic Mediterranean scenery of olive and almond trees and winding stone walls, plus the stirring seacoast views.
Other Golf Courses & Opportunities on Mallorca
Mallorca boasts better than 20 public golf courses; besides the above-mentioned lineup, they include Santa Ponsa, Real Golf de Bendinat, Club de Golf Alcanada, and Son Muntaner. We recommend this roundup of island courses from ABC Mallorca, the source for nearly all the info we’ve shared here.
If few things satisfy your soul quite like a day on the fairways, we can supply the dream Balearic vacation for you: luxury accommodations in one of our many Hoposa hotels or vacation apartments, plus easy access to an array of Mallorcan courses. And with our island’s famously balmy weather, the golfing season is a long and generous one!
