Ironman 70.3 in Alcudia, Mallorca – Hoposa Hotels
Bienvenidos! Hoposa Hotels is proud to support this year’s Ironman 70.3 in Alcudia, Mallorca on May 7th, 2016. The Ironman triathlon is one of the most grueling, but rewarding races in which an athlete can participate. Being in Mallorca is just a bonus, for the fans anyway, because the gorgeous beaches, scenic cliffs and mountains will take your breath away.
What Is Ironman 70.3?
The Thomas Cook Ironman 70.3 Mallorca is one of the qualifying races for the 2016 Ironman 70.3 World Championship in Australia. But, the Alcudia race is noteworthy for another reason — historically it has a larger field than any other triathlon. As of early April, about 3,200 people are registered for the race.
So what does ‘70.3’ signify? This represents these inspiring athletes’ mileage in the race. They swim 1.9 km, bicycle 90 km, and run 21.1 km. Trust us, the math is right. This race is slightly shorter compared to the championship Ironman triathlon, consisting of a 3.86 km swim, 180 km bike ride, and a 42.2 km marathon.
Luckily it doesn’t make it any less exciting! The best part is that it allows seasoned runners to truly focus on their performance, improve their finish times, and it’s a great warm up for the Ironman World Championship.
Spectator Friendly for Your Whole Family!
Most participants complete the race in around six hours, so it’s the perfect spectator event to bring the whole family and enjoy the race atmosphere. Pack your lunch and your camera, don’t forget to snap a picture of participants celebrating their victory or anguishing over a defeat. Your friends and family, back at home, will be bewildered by the stunning views, unique landscapes, and fierce competition. If you’re really daring, put away the photography equipment and compete instead – well, maybe next year after several months of training!
The City of Alcudia
Alcudia is a destination you won’t ever forget. Not only are the beaches amazing, but there are countless cultural opportunities to explore this historic area. Don’t miss out on Museum Sa Bassa Blanca, featuring contemporary art from Ben Jakober and a rose garden with over 100 different types of carnations.
