Best Beaches in Mallorca, Spain
June 28, 2018 | Blog
Mallorca is known worldwide for its Mediterranean beaches, of course, which draw visitors all year round. As a guest of ours at a Hoposa hotel or vacation apartment, you’ve got these spectacular sands at your fingertips (or should we say toe-tips?). The lovely thing about Mallorcan seashores is their variety: some bustling and thronged, some quiet and secluded—but all of them just about postcard-perfect!
What constitutes the “best” beaches on the island varies depending on your personal preferences and needs. Some strands recommend themselves for kids with generous expanses of play-able sand, while narrower or rockier beaches aren’t quite so suited for some families. The Mallorcan beaches we’re spotlighting here cover a lot of collective territory, so you should find an option (or three) perfect for your sun, sand, and surf hankering during your Hoposa vacation!
Playa de Formentor
Out on Mallorca’s northeastern extremity (Cap de Formentor) within easy reach of our Puerto Pollensa hotels and apartments, Playa de Formentor is one of the island’s all-out beach stunners: backed by pine forest (with ample shade from overhanging trees), studded with cabanas, looking out over a glinting bay rimmed by mountainous coast. No surprise this is such a popular R&R destination…
Port de Pollenca Beach
Boasting stunning views of the Serra de Tramuntana peaks as well as Cap de Formentor, Port de Pollenca’s beach is another knockout swath of white sand within shouting distance of our Puerto Pollensa Hoposa properties.
Playa de Alcudia
Here you’ll find the longest beachfront in Mallorca—actually, the longest beachfront in all of the Balearic Islands! Like numerous Mallorcan strands, seven-kilometer-long Playa de Alcudia—edging the beautiful Bay of Alcudia—enjoys a Blue Flag designation for its water quality and other environmental attributes.
The only lightly developed Cala Mesquida serves as another of Mallorca’s prettiest beachfronts. Well protected on account of its significant seabird colonies, the beach nestles against rolling dunes and piney hills.
S’Amarador and Cala Mondragó Beaches
Linked by a coastal trail, these two more farflung beaches serve up plenty of rocky and forested scenery amid the wonderfully convoluted coastline of Mondragó Natural Park.
Quiet and isolated Cala Varques lies along a dreamy cove shouldered by cliffy ledges and shimmering with turquoise waters. It’s not at all easy to drag yourself away from this idyllic sandy nook…
